Currently: September 🙌

Thank you to Farley at Oh Boy 4th Grade for another currently!

I am currently laying in bed blogging on my phone (not the easiest thing I've ever done)! So therefore, I am listening to my ceiling fan and my husband getting ready for bed!

I am loving that I am currently on day 16 of my #3weeksnocheats and have lost 4 pounds!! Woot woot!

I am thinking that I don't want to go to my masters classes the next 2 nights in a row...boo!

I am wanting ice cream so bad because I can't have it on my 3 weeks no cheats!
I NEED to go to sleep...I have school tomorrow! And I need to be prepared to teach little minds!

My 3 goals are to stay organized at school AND at home, have more compassion towards my students, and to be present in every moment I have with my family because I am very busy with school, cheer, and my masters program.

Head on over to Oh Boy 4th Grade and link up!

Currently AuGuSt!

Can you believe that its time for the August currently from Farley at Oh' Boy 4th Grade? This is insane! Monday I go in for the first day since June 1st to work on my room for this new school year! So far I have 20 little ones in my 3rd grade class for this year.

For my B2S RAK (Back 2 School Random Act of Kindness) I am thinking about making some kind of little gift to give to my parents. I meet them the night before school starts at our "Back to School Night". I'm not sure what kind of gift yet. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Hope your weekend is going well!

Currently...July

I am linking up with Farley over at Oh' Boy 4th Grade for this month's CURRENTLY!

Wow, has it been awhile since I have posted a currently. The only time I have to blog or do anything computer related, is when my 2 year old is sleeping! He loves ALL things electronic so we have to keep things (like this computer) locked up! I guess he will be my little techy when he grows up!

This summer has finally started for me because I am currently working towards my masters (yay!). I had class all throughout June, so July is the real start of my summer vacation!

To get you up to date:
I moved down to 3rd grade this year (and LOVED it),
I coached volleyball,
I got hired as co cheer coach,
I resigned as volleyball coach (bc of cheer),
My son turned 2!

I really feel like I am in my element teaching 3rd grade. Although, this year I felt like a first year teacher ALL over again, ugh! Hopefully this year will go much smoother (fingers crossed!).

Have a great 4th of July!!

Mummys!!! oh, and currently

For the past few weeks we have been studying Ancient Egypt in History class. A few weeks ago we did a mummifying experiment. I found the lesson plan here. Check it out! My kids loved it. I intertwined History with Science in the activity.

I introduced the Scientific Method.

Before we started I had them write down their predictions and questions of what they thought the apple would look like after a week. Then after a week was up we got to look at our apples. Before we looked at our apples I had them write down step 2 and 3 of the Scientific Method. After we looked at the mummified apples we finished by writing steps 4 and 5. Here are some pictures!

(This picture is great!!)

I had so much fun with my kids during this activity! I think they really enjoyed it too!

-------------------------------------------------------

A little late, but here is my currently!

We haven't listened to much music in my class. I should really change that. I think music is very calming. If we were to listen to the radio it would be our town's local country station. What music do you listen to in your classroom?

Parent/Teacher Conferences & Currently

Tonight was my first ever Parent/Teacher conference! And I survived!! Yay! You know I really wasn't nervous for them until my principal and superintendent individually came to talk to me about them. They were asking if I was nervous, if I was ready, if I had any questions. Then they proceeded to tell me that if I needed them to just call down for them if I have a problem with a parent...ya, that statement got me a little nervous! But you know what? I made it! And they actually went very smoothly! I had no complaints! I actually got some compliments! Tomorrow morning is round 2 of P/T conferences. Let's hope they go as smoothly as todays!

Have you had P/T conferences yet? If so, how were they? If not, how do you prepare for them?

I had 4 desks pulled together. I sat on one side and the parents sat across from me. I had a file folder for each student with they AimsWeb test scores, grade reports, and their behavior log. After I presented those I asked the parents if they had any questions. Each time slot is 15 minutes long and some of them didn't even last the whole 15 minutes!

And now, time to link up with Oh' Boy 4th Grade's October Currently! Can you believe that it is October already!!

3. I have two gorgeous 31 bags that I tote all of my school stuff in back and forth from school to home! I don't know what I would do with out those!

Currently...so soon!?

Yes, yes...I know.
My last post in June was a currently and my first post in July is a currently....
But hey! At least I am keeping you updated right? Ha!
My currently this month isn't so different from last months. Still thinking the same things except for the fact that I am leaving for Vacation this week!! EEK! :)

Reads:
1. You favorite go-to read aloud - mine is ANY Dr. Seuss books. Kids are just enthralled by him! I can pick out any book of his and the kids just sit, listening, quietly....its magic!
2. You go-to teacher's manual - mine right now is the First Year Teacher's Survival Guide (buy here) Since I am a first year teacher, I will be turning to this book a lot for tips and advice!

Thank you so much to Farley over at Oh' Boy 4th Grade for providing these currentlys! They are so much fun! :)

Happy Summer!

better late than never!

So, I know June is almost over, almost! {trying not to rush my summer!} But thanks to Kim over at Finding JOY in 6th Grade, she reminded me that I needed to post mine {because she just posted hers ;) }! So here is goes, my currently for June!

I wish I was in Australia - I have always wanted to go there! Maybe someday I will actually get to go!

I have went...NO WHERE...yet! I will be going to Myrtle Beach and Panama City Beach very soon! I can't wait!!

I want to go to a beach - any beach! I really don't care! As long as it has sand, is warm, and there is water I will be just fine! I could so live on the beach! But instead, I live in the mid-west. Where the only beaches are around muddy lakes...oh Joy! ha!

Thank you to Farley over at Oh' Boy 4th Grade! Love the "currently's" :)

Happy Summer!!

Currently March!

This is the first time I've done one of these currently things! I like them! They are fun!

The last one is "3 words" and here are the rules:
ONE- every word has to start with the FIRST letter of your LAST name
so all of mine start with C
TWO- you can only have 3 words... that is it THREE words
THREE- you have to think of it as what would they say... so if your
students, friends, and family (in that order) could say ONLY ONE WORD about you
and it had to start with the FIRST letter of your LAST name what would the 3 words be...
keep them in that order so everyone knows... STUDENTS, FRIENDS, FAMILY

Now its your turn!
Need to know how to link up??

Here's how:
1. Right click and copy
2. Open Power Point (or I use Picasa) and insert (or paste) the image.
3. Create text-boxes and type in your answers.
4. Copy all (cntrl A) and paste into Paint or press "Save As", rename and save to your computer
5. Save as a jpeg
6. Upload the image to your blog :)
So, now what are you waiting for...Try it out!
