Mystery Hero

Love this idea! Pull a name from the Mystery Hero jar. Don't say their name, but let kids know you are watching your Mystery Hero. If the Mystery Hero does a good job reward them, and if they aren't on their best behavior just say to the class that the Mystery Hero needs to try harder. Don't call the student out or let students know who it was.

At the end of the day I would give that person a special treat to pick from. Candy, fruit snacks, drink, etc. It is a great way for all the kids to work hard and do good during the day. Because they don't know who the person is going to be!

Currently March!

This is the first time I've done one of these currently things! I like them! They are fun!

The last one is "3 words" and here are the rules:
ONE- every word has to start with the FIRST letter of your LAST name
so all of mine start with C
TWO- you can only have 3 words... that is it THREE words
THREE- you have to think of it as what would they say... so if your
students, friends, and family (in that order) could say ONLY ONE WORD about you
and it had to start with the FIRST letter of your LAST name what would the 3 words be...
keep them in that order so everyone knows... STUDENTS, FRIENDS, FAMILY

Now its your turn!
Need to know how to link up??

Here's how:
1. Right click and copy
2. Open Power Point (or I use Picasa) and insert (or paste) the image.
3. Create text-boxes and type in your answers.
4. Copy all (cntrl A) and paste into Paint or press "Save As", rename and save to your computer
5. Save as a jpeg
6. Upload the image to your blog :)
So, now what are you waiting for...Try it out!

An Amazing Website!

Ok, You seriously have to check this website out if you haven't already. I work with Title 1 & RtI kids in grades K-4. So I am always looking for activities. I happened to stumble upon this website today while looking for something for my 1st grade RtI kids. I found these great printable booklets that work with Word Families, sight words, and concept booklets. There are also many other literacy resources on this website, but this is exactly what I was looking for!

The website is Hubbard's Cupboard

Under the printable booklets you can select one of the 3 categories. Then you can choose to print them as a booklet or just on one page, they also have a teacher's guide. Here is a peek of what the one sheet printable looks like. This is working with the word family -am

Word Family 1.1- Am Sheet

If you print the teachers version it will give you a list of all the -am word family words! Awesome!

New favorite sight!! Check it out! :)

Pin It Monday: This is such a good idea!

Do you use large anchor charts? Do you ever wish when a kid has a question that you could refer to your anchor charts again? Well now you can! This great idea came from Teaching My Friends Blog check it out!

Reasons to love!
  1. It keeps my anchor charts available all year long.
  2. It's handy for my friends.  They know where it is and know how to use it.
  3. It's a great reminder for me for the next year.  I am a believer in making 90% of my charts with the class.  I may set up the title and clip art or graphic I want on it, but the content is generated with my friends.  Of course, I know what must make the chart, but you would be surprised at the different things that come up each year with different classes that we end up adding.
  4. It's a great resource to use with my small group and individual student meetings to target specific needs.
Thank you Nancy of Teaching My Friends!

Oh Sickness!

Oh man did sickness ever find me! Sunday afternoon I was hit hard with achy legs and joints and a terrible headache! I had no idea what was going on with me. My knees were so achy I felt like I had just done a million squats! And I literally have not worked out my legs in over a week! I just could not move, all I wanted to do was lay down all day. Sunday night was the worst! I could not sleep, I got maybe 4 hours of sleep that night. I ended up going to work and had small groups that night. I was so busy that I wasn't able to even think about the fact that I had no sleep that night! When Tuesday rolled around it just kept getting worse. I woke up with clogged ears, nose, and just felt light headed. I ended up going home early from work. I really hate leaving work early (and I never have left work for being sick). I went home and just slept! I think that is what I really needed, just to catch up from the night before. Wednesday and today I have been feeling much better. I have been taking some dayquill and resting as much as possible. I really hate this, especially since the weather is soooo gorgeous out! I am going to go outside today and walk no matter what!

So anywho, aside from my sickness, we have our house DONE!! yay!

I just love the stone that we added! Looks so much better than that red brick! I cannot wait to put flowers out now!
