First Day Jitters Blog Hop

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who participated in my first ever linky pary "Preparing for School"! You still have time to enter in! It has been so helpful reading every-bodies advice and tips for new teachers! I am getting so nervous and "jittery" about starting my first year of teaching! So....with that I am joining Fierce in Fourth's First Day Jitters Blog Hop!

All you have to do is tell 3 things that you are jittery about for the upcoming school year!

1. I am soooo nervous for the first day of school. Being a first year teacher, I have NO idea what to expect. I don't know any of the kids. The last time I was at this school was in the Fall of 2009 (its been a while). I observed in a 4th grade class and those 4th graders are now 7th graders! OMGoodness!

2. I am worried that I won't have everything prepared that needs to be prepared....management plan, bulletin boards, routines and procedures! Ah! I'm stressing myself out just thinking about it!

3. Lastly, I am excited and jittery about meeting the rest of the staff (I have already met the middle school staff that I will be working with and love them!) But I haven't met the rest of the staff yet. I just hope that everyone likes me and is friendly and kind to me! Eek! :S

What are you jittery about for the upcoming school year?

Head over to Fierce in Fourth and link up!

Preparing for School LINKY PARTY!

I am having my first ever linky party and I hope you can join me!

As most of you may know, I am preparing for my first year of teaching! I will be teaching in a 6th grade class (language arts, history, and science). I am so excited, but have no idea where to begin! The reason for this linky party is for you to help me and other new teachers in preparing for our classrooms! Just follow these simple rules and link up!

1. Post about this linky party on your blog
2. Follow my blog ({6th Grade} All-Stars)
3. Answer the following 5 questions (include documents if you have them):

- What grade do you teach?
- What is the greatest advice you received during your 1st year of teaching?
- Do you have a checklist that you follow when preparing your classroom (include the checklist)?
- What are some must haves in your classroom that you cannot live without (ex. items, books, posters, management strategies)?
- What is something that all teachers should have in their classroom?

Don't forget to add your link and put your answers in a comment!! :)

Thank you for participating!

Your Book Lists

Well I just returned home from a much needed vacation to Myrtle Beach. It was beautiful! More about that later! I am home for a day and then I am leaving to go to Florida to be a sponsor for our churches youth trip! Pretty excited!

Any who....I thought I would ask your advice.

I never expected to be teaching 6th grade and I have a ton of early elementary books and only about 10 Jr. High books. So this is where I need your help.

Would you give me your TOP 5 5th-8th grade books?

I am having a hard time knowing what is too young or too old for them!

Thank you in advance for your book lists!!!

p.s. please enter into Life in Middle School's 100 follower giveaway! There are so many AWESOME prizes!

My Classroom

I got to see my classroom today!
I had not been able to see it due to floor waxing. It is still not completely cleaned up yet, but I got to get in there and take some pictures! My room has been vacant for about 2 years. Teachers would occasionally take their classes in there to work on various class projects. But for the most part it has been empty. I definitely have my work cut out for me!

I won't be able to get in there for another TWO weeks! But I can't wait!!

Happy 4th of July! :)
